Try either dry sawdust or kitty litter and just spread it around in the polluted area, as for the carpet, you may have to just remove it and get new, hydraulic fluid will leave a stain and it may be impossible to get it out. oh well.... *.* happens. How to get rid of brake fluid?
Patience and elbow grease. Brake fluid is not an oil product but more in the family of ethylene glycol. Try getting most of the residual out using wet-dry vac if you can. Then apply carpet shampoo a couple of times. That should return it to a reasonably acceptable state. How to get rid of brake fluid?
Try wiping with a wet cloth. Water removes fluid easily.
