How do i know i need a transmission oil change?

i did the 60k mile service on my 2005 honda accord, this was done at a honda dealer.it included brake fluid change and trans. oil change. 2 weeks later i took it to pepboys and they recommended brake fluid change (i thought they were crazy). Now 8 months later, they (pepboys) tell me that i need a trans oil change......are they trying to trick me because i'm a woman or erhaps the honda dealer did not change the fluids? how can i know? How do i know i need a transmission oil change?
If you like spending money for things you don't need, then fine, if not, don't.

I'm pretty sure that the dealer changed your fluid. Most likely Pep boys just looked at how many miles your car had and told you that you needed to change the oil. That is what they all do, they base it off the mileage, they don't even check the fluid!

It's pretty easy to check and see if the dealer truly did replace the transmission fluid. Just pull out the dipstick and look at the color, it should be rose red or pink NOT burnt brown or black.

Brake fluid you never have to change, unless you get new master cylinder, brake lines or hoses and calipers and wheel cylinders. However, if you look in your owner's manual, it may state that you must change the brake fluid at a specific mileage/time, so if you wanted to follow the manual then go ahead, but it is really not necessary to replace it.
