Can I change the brake fluid in an Audi A4 myself?

Hi there,

My 2003 Audi A4 2.0 petrol requires the brake fluid to be changed.

I've never done this myself before, I was wondering if it is something easy that I can do myself? and if so how? Or is it better to get the dealer to do it?

ThanksCan I change the brake fluid in an Audi A4 myself?
If you don't know what you are doing leave it alone. You could end up with air in the system and no brakes. Can I change the brake fluid in an Audi A4 myself?
If you've never worked on your Audi before, don't you dare start now without buying a Hanes or Chilton manual. They are about $20 and as far as your concerned, they are your Bible.

Doing a brake job isn't very difficult, and your Audi probably has all-wheel disc brakes, making it even easier, but that car may require special tools.

Otherwise, you need a set of open-ended wrenches, a rag, a bucket, and someone to sit in the car and press the brake pedal while you loosen the 'bleed' nut on each wheel hub.

You loosen.

He presses the pedal down. (fluid shoots out)

You tighten.

He releases the pedal.

Repeat until empty.

And don't get it on the paint or you will have a nice shiny-bare metal spot there next time you wash your car.

Good luck homes. Can I change the brake fluid in an Audi A4 myself?
You cant change the fluid yourself as the car needs to be hooked up on a brake bleeder machine as the Abs braking circuits are independent.

Try a suitable independent Vw audi specialist as there cheaper.

I have worked on cars all my life and bleeding the brakes is, in theory, fairly simple. In practice it is often a total disaster and you end up limping around to the local garage as you have bled 20 quids worth of fluid through and part of the system is still full of air. a prior answerer was correct when he advised you to get a manual for your car before doing anything. Here in the states we use a Haynes or a Chilton mostly because thats what we find in the auto stores,,,,but there are other publishers also.

Even if you don't intend to fix the car yourself,,you get a good education about your car by just reading it. These books are well worth the money spent.

My personal choice is the Haynes brand. They have a website. Can I change the brake fluid in an Audi A4 myself?
buy a pressure bleeder,拢14...simply fill the bleeder bottle, attach the other end to a spare tyre and open each nipple up one at a time starting with the brake furthest away from the reservoir....20 Min's and your done...providing the nipples dont snap off that is...Can I change the brake fluid in an Audi A4 myself?
Buy the Haynes Manual for the car. Buy a 'one man' bleeding kit. Buy a good small ring spanner to suit the bleed valves. Buy two litres of universal brake fluid. And off you go. If you follow the manual to the letter it is a piece of cake. Can I change the brake fluid in an Audi A4 myself?
Get a dealer to do it.

Doing it yourself can't be done with one person, and if you get an air bubble in the line, you won't have brakes when you need them most.
